I had a chance to work as a generalist for 3D production of one of the episodes of Netflix’s “We the people” and also got to do R&D for building stylized workflows. Since from the design stage we knew we wanted to go with a handmade/painted inspired look i started palying around with some methods for 3d production.
Bottom #1 is a material built in Substance Designer to implement in substance painter and to quickly block out hand painted looking maps for assets, it rides customizable color and scale gradients using the baked map of choice - normals or ambient occlusion.
Bottom #2 is a quick go at a Houdini based post-processing setup for scattering procedurally built paintbrush geometry over maya renders to mimic hand painted charcoal effect.

Technical Art Direction / Visual Developement
Forglemmegei is a short film from The Animation Workshop. I had the chance to work as a TD and a designer for establishing and working on building a pipeline for a stop motion inspired CG project. During pre-production i did R&D around sets, materials, and fx elements and built procedural systems for various elements. During production i helped with overviewing the CG team & problem-solving as well as lighting and compositing.
Forglemmegei has been shortlisted for a BAFTA award, received both 'Best of The Month' and 'Staff Pick' from VIMEO, and won both audience awards and 'best student film' since its release in 2019.
